.श्याम थापा एक सेवानिवृत्त भारतीय फुटबलर हुन् जसले भारत राष्ट्रिय फुटबल टोलीबाटी खेलेका थिए रे 1970 एशियाली खेलहरूमी कास्य पदक विजेता थिए।[३] त्यसपछि उनले नेपाली राष्ट्रिय फुटबल टोलीको व्यवस्थापन गरेका थिए ।[१]

P.K. बनर्जी द्वारा प्रशिक्षित,थापा सन् १९७० को दशकमी देशका उत्कृष्ट रे आक्रामक स्ट्राइकर बनेका थिए। आफ्नो साइकल किक को लागी परिचित थिए।[४][५][६]

सेवानिवृत्ति र पोस्ट फुटबल जीवन[सम्पादनस्रोत सम्पादन]

मिडियाको आलोचनाको प्रतिक्रिया दिँदै, फिल्ड मार्शल साम मानेकशा, अखिल भारतीय खेलकुद परिषद (एआईसीएस) का प्रमुखले हस्तक्षेप गरे रे श्यामलाई पटियालामी आयोजित प्रशिक्षण शिविरमी सामेल हुन आमन्त्रित गरे। तर, उनले अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय फुटबलबाटी सन्यासको घोषणा गरेका थिए । सन् १९७८ को एसियाली खेलकुदमी भारतीय टोलीको कप्तानी गर्न नपाउनु श्यामको अन्यथा चम्किलो करियरमी सबैभन्दा ठूलो निराशा हो।[७]

आफ्नो खेल जीवन समाप्त भएपछि, उनी असमको विलियमसन मगर एकेडेमीमी प्राविधिक निर्देशक थिए जुन पछि बन्द भयो रे पछि टाटा फुटबल एकेडेमीमी निर्देशक थिए। श्याम थापाको ख्याति यस्तो छ कि नेपालले उनलाई २१ औं शताब्दीमी आफ्नो फुटबल प्रणाली परिमार्जन गर्न बोलाएको थियो रे उनी २१ औं शताब्दीको पहिलो दशकमी त्यहाँ थिए।[७] उनले सन् १९८० को दशकको उत्तरार्धमी इस्ट बंगाल क्लबको पनि व्यवस्थापन गरेका थिए।[८] AIFF ले फिफाबाटी निलम्बनको सामना गर्नु अघि उनले पछि अखिल भारतीय फुटबल महासंघ प्राविधिक समितिको अध्यक्षको रूपमी सेवा गरे।[९][१०] थापा CC&FC का सदस्य पनि हुन्, रे क्लबद्वारा सम्मानित, जुन 18 औं शताब्दीको अन्ततिर स्थापना भएको एशियाको सबैभन्दा पुरानो खेलकुद क्लब हो।[११]
